Texas de Brazil began with a dream in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Enjoying the rancher’s life and feasting in the rodizio style native to the region, one of our partners had visions of bringing churrasco culture north to the United States.

Salim Asrawi was raised in Beirut, Lebanon. And he’s as fine a restaurateur, Texan, and American as they come. In 1981, Salim became one of the one million people who fled Lebanon while a civil war raged from 1975 to 1990. “War became part of life,” he says.

What is the best meat at Fogo de Chao?
The signature steak is the picanha (the prime part of the top sirloin) that is flavored with sea salt or garlic. This was one of our favorites along with the moist Costela (Beef Ribs) braised for 4 hours, Fraldinha (Bottom sirloin), the rib-eye, sausage, bacon-wrapped sirloin, filet mignon, and lamb chops.
